waiting...

another day spent in languid desire. another day in which i try to outlast time, when the sun sheds its first ray of light over the distant horizon, a burnished orange that brings back memories of the smouldering volcano from whence i came. my servant wakes to tend to me; i dismiss her, for i am not in need of her services. all i can do is stand at the edge of the bamboo forest, listening to the wind whistle softly through the caned foilage and think of a more innocent time, a time that had not yet been tainted by the elixir. i stand alone, waiting. waiting... for the time when she will arrive, as she always does, her treasures in tow, floating serenely to mask their intent of death. yet even as she tries, for all of her imperial powers, she still cannot defeat that which time itself has given way to. i wait... and though i may burn, i know that i will always return... whether i desire it or not.

truly, a fate worse than death.
